Cast and assembled in 18ct yellow and white gold, approximately c. 1990–2000, The Dark Rose is a classic cluster ring: a deep almandine garnet — shifting between a saturated burgundy and a vivid crimson depending on the light — held at its centre in a white gold claw setting, encircled by a single halo of ten single-cut diamonds. The cluster head is set low and compact, giving the piece an intimate, almost brooch-like quality. The contrast between the warm yellow gold of the slender shank and the cooler white of the cluster surround is deliberate, a pairing that makes the garnet's red appear deeper by comparison.
