Condition
Excellent
In excellent condition. Under magnification, the metal has a warm patina and honest wear commensurate with age. The gemstones are clean and crisp, and all settings are secure throughout. A piece that has been worn with care and kept well.
Keeper's Guide to Care
Everyday Wear
Gemstone Hardness: Ruby — Mohs 9, second only to diamond in hardness and toughness. An exceptionally durable stone, well-suited to daily wear. Diamond — Mohs 10, the hardest natural substance on earth.
The Spa Day — Rubies & Diamonds. These stones love a gentle refresh. A bowl of lukewarm, mild soapy water and a very soft toothbrush will clear away the dust of history. While modern jewels tolerate an ultrasonic cleaner, vintage pieces can be more vulnerable — the vibrations may loosen older settings over time. When in doubt, stick to the hand-wash.
Rose Gold. This metal develops a soulful patina over time. A quick buff with a polishing cloth keeps it bright when you want it so.
As with all pieces from the Archive, we recommend an annual professional check-up. A trusted jeweller can ensure settings are secure and stones are stable — and will almost always include a thorough clean while they are at it.
