Condition
Very Good
The sapphire is eye-clean, presenting beautifully with only the faintest surface wear visible under magnification at its facet junctions — entirely commensurate with age. The surrounding eight-cut diamonds are well protected within their slightly recessed platinum settings. The band carries honest wear consistent with its years, and the ring has been sympathetically resized at some point in its history.
Keeper's Guide to Care
Everyday Wear.
Gemstone Hardness: Sapphire — Mohs 9. One of the hardest gemstones in existence, second only to diamond, and highly resistant to scratching in everyday wear.
The sapphire and diamonds in this ring are among the most resilient stones in the Archive — a spa day is all they ask. A bowl of lukewarm, mild soapy water and a very soft toothbrush will clear away the dust of history and restore their brightness. Whilst modern jewels tolerate an ultrasonic cleaner, we recommend against it for this piece. A careful hand-wash is the kindest approach.
We recommend an annual professional check-up — a trusted jeweller can ensure the sapphire and diamond settings remain secure and give the ring the expert clean it deserves, keeping it safe and bright for the journey ahead.
