Constructed c.1960–1970, this bypass ring is worked entirely by hand in 14ct yellow gold, its shoulders finished throughout in a Florentine cross-hatch — that fine, precise engraving technique requiring both patience and a steady hand. The tourmaline sits at the point where the two shoulders meet, its elongated rectangular form held at a diagonal that gives the whole ring its sense of forward momentum. The colour draws the eye immediately: a deep, slightly muted bluish-green that shifts with the light — more alive in sun, deeper in shadow — and resists easy naming. A piece from an era when wearers wanted jewellery that felt individually made, modern, and entirely itself.
