The scrollwork at the shoulders remains crisp, with no softening or loss of detail to the naked eye. The sapphire and diamonds are eye-clean. At some point in its history, one stone was replaced with the eight-cut diamond now set within the row, a sympathetic repair that has been carefully matched to the piece.

Everyday Wear
Sapphire: Mohs 9, exceptionally hard and highly durable, one of the toughest gemstones worn in jewellery.
Diamonds and sapphires are resilient companions that welcome a gentle refresh. A bowl of lukewarm, mild soapy water and a very soft toothbrush will clear away the dust of history. Many vintage settings, including this one, are best kept away from an ultrasonic cleaner. The vibrations can loosen old stones or unsettle fine detail, even where the stones themselves would tolerate the process.
An annual professional check-up is recommended to confirm all settings remain secure. Avoid sudden temperature changes or impact, and remove the ring before manual work, exercise, or applying lotions and perfumes.
