Condition
Very Good
The mount shows honest surface wear — a gentle softening of the collet and millegrain detail visible under magnification, entirely commensurate with its age. The diamond is eye-clean, bright and crisp throughout. Prior to listing, a sympathetic professional repair was carried out: one shoulder that had slightly separated from the head was re-secured. The intervention is invisible to the naked eye. The ring is fully sound and ready to wear.
Keeper's Guide to Care
Everyday Wear
Gemstone Hardness
Diamond — Mohs 10. The hardest natural substance known, resistant to scratching from virtually any other material encountered in daily life. The stone itself will endure; it is the setting and its fine details that benefit most from gentle handling.
The Spa Day
A bowl of lukewarm, mild soapy water and a very soft toothbrush will clear away the dust of history and restore its brightness between annual check-ups. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners — the vibrations can loosen settings in a vintage piece.
Filigree & millegrain
The millegrain detailing on this ring is part of its character. Avoid heavy pressure when cleaning so you don't soften the historic detail — a light hand with the soft brush is all that is needed.
We recommend an annual professional check-up to ensure all prongs remain secure and the setting continues to hold the diamond safely for the years ahead.
